The MSUS Ministerial Search Committee is charged with making its best efforts to present a candidate for settled minister to the congregation in the Spring of 2016. The Committee shall present a candidate whom it believes will be successful in partnering with and leading MSUS in the achievement of our vision and mission. If no minister is deemed suitable for MSUS, or if no minister accepts the Committee’s invitation to be a candidate, the committee shall so report to the Board and the congregation, along with its recommendation for next steps.
The Committee is further charged with:
- Keeping the congregation and the Board regularly informed of the status of its work, while maintaining confidentiality of interested ministers, pre-candidates, and those providing references
- Educating the congregation about what we could expect from three-quarter time versus full-time ministry, as well as roles, responsibilities, skills, and styles of ministers, and how those might support MSUS’ vision
- Maintaining good working relationships with the larger UUA (including the Ministerial Settlement Representative, the UUA Transitions Office, UUA Compensation Consultant, and Regional Staff) and adhering to timeliness associated with the settlement process
- Assist the Board, as requested, as they work to develop a new vision/mission for the congregation
