Join the MSUS Social Action Committee­­ on March 11 for a Day of Service

The Social Action Committee has planned a Day of Service on with service activities happening throughout the day on March 11, 2017. Sign-up sheets are on the Social Action bulletin board in the fellowship hall. Sign up by February 28 to join us!

Join us at church — kids very much welcome —where we will be:

  • Making care packages for our homeless neighbors
  • Constructing bird nesting material tubes for your yard
  • Prepping books for distribution to local Little Free Libraries

Schedule for  on-site activities:

  • 10:45 am – 11:00 am       Clean up

Join the Hope Clean Team to clean the Hope4Youth drop-in center in Anoka.

Hope4Youth is a local non-profit that runs a drop-in center for homeless youth. The drop-in center is open for 5 hours each weekday and provides services to homeless youth such as a hot meal each day, showers, laundry facilities, storage lockers, a food pantry, a clothes closet, and numerous services like mentors, help finding housing, medical services, even haircuts.

Hope Clean Teams give the drop-in center a deep cleaning to keep it a pleasant and welcome space. Let’s put together a Hope Clean Team of 5 to 10 people.

  • Youth ages 13 and up can join without a parent.
  • 12 and under can join with a parent.

This activity is from 9 am to 11 am at the Hope4Youth facility in Anoka; if carpooling from MSUS, depart at 8:30 and return at 11:30. Child Care is available at MSUS with advance sign-up.

Join us to provide a meal and children’s activities at Alexandra House

Alexandra House operates a 24-hour domestic and sexual violence emergency shelter and can accommodate up to 35 women and children at one time. All basic needs are provided for including food, toiletries, clothing, linens, diapers, and laundry facilities. They work with each client on an individual basis to help meet their needs.

We’re looking for a team of people to make and serve a meal for the residents, and do crafts with the children who live there. All attendees must be age 18 or older.

This activity is from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm at Alexandra House facility Blaine. If carpooling from MSUS, depart at 2:15 return by 5:45. Child Care is not available during this activity.
