Documentary Showing - 13th

This 2016 documentary explores the intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States; i t is titled after the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which freed the slaves and prohibited slavery (unless as punishment for a crime).

13th has garnered acclaim from film critics, and is nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.  The film examines the history and growth of incarceration in America, how the war on drugs impacted minority communities, and the amount of money is being made in the prison-industrial complex.

The film is two hours so we will start on time and have a brief conversation following.
