Join Us for a Monthly Forum

Forums are an opportunity to:

  • Meet with congregational leaders to hear about and discuss important topics related to MSUS now and into the future.
  • Hear from outside speakers on topics that work best apart a worship service and leave room for questions and answers.
  • Potential topics include environmental issues, transgender 101, identifying dementia in family members, and Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance. Contact Rev. Laura if you have topics or speakers you want to suggest.

Why is MSUS Restructuring Our Committees?
12:00 – 1:00 pm in the Social Hall
In October 2017, the Board accepted the report of the Restructuring Committees Task Force. The Task Force was asked to research and recommend a means of conducting church business to meet the changing needs and goals of MSUS’ growing congregation. This would include:

  • promoting strong lay leadership
  • increasing member participation
  • distributing responsibilities more evenly
  • defining duties and boundaries clearly
  • designating term limits
  • reducing burnout
  • developing clear communication channels

Janice Sankot will moderate a discussion on how this proposal will be implemented. Need Childcare? Please RSVP by January 14, 2018, by emailing our DRE.

Beyond the building vote: Where do we go from here?
12:00 – 1:00 pm in the Social Hall
On June 28 we gathered to count the vote regarding the potential purchase of a new building. 84 people voted with 72 voting ‘yes’ and 12 ‘no’ votes falling short of the 90% required to move forward. We closed that night in a circle holding hands—exemplifying our unity and commitment to continue as one church. September 17 is an opportunity to gather again. A moment to touch base, reflect back, and discuss how we move forward.
