Leadership Council Committee:
Having Difficult Conversations: Practical Skills for Bridging Gaps
An exciting opportunity for all at MSUS!
A group of MSUS leaders and congregants attended our first Leadership Development Committee (LDC) training session last fall on identifying and discovering leadership skills. Many of the people in the room expressed interest in learning more about conflict management and how to have difficult conversations at church and beyond.
The LDC explored local resources that have developed programs on difficult conversations and contacted Better Angels (https://betterangels.org/). Better Angels is a national nonprofit dedicated to building new ways to talk to one another. We are delighted to have Better Angels trainers lead us in learning more about personal communication and how to engage one another across differences. This is a highly regarded group — Rev. Laura spoke of them in a service last year and several members heard Bill Doherty, a local UU and director of the marriage and family therapy program at the U of M, share stories about their work on MPR.
The MSUS Leadership Development Committee, in partnership with the Board, is sponsoring this program which is one of several designed to help all MSUS members who are interested in developing new leadership skills. All members of MSUS are invited to this free workshop!
